7 Christmas Movies for Geeks, Freaks and Badasses
Even though a screening of The Elf, Home Alone or The Grinch is mandatory every December, we're growing a little tired of the traditional oh-so-nice Christmas movie lists. And we're sure we're not alone in this - after all, the Click & Grow family is nothing but geeks, freaks and badasses. They even grow plants the badass way. (wink wink)
So the status of being food tech geeks by day and movie geeks by night made us feel knowledgeable enough to drop you some alternative Christmas movie ideas. Sit back and enjoy!
P.S. Merry Christmas.
1. It's A Wonderful Life
A 40s Christmas fantasy drama that tells the story of a frustrated, suicidal businessman and an angel who will change each other's lives. In short: You better don't kill yourself on Christmas or Clarence won't get his wings.
Besides the exciting (and touching) plot, this one of the few very best Christmas movies ever made. And we're not the only ones who think that - “It's A Wonderful Life” has been acknowledged to be one of the most acclaimed films ever made AND listed as one of the 100 best American films ever made by the American Film Institute. Totally worth it.
2. Die Hard & Die Hard 2
This, obviously, doesn't require lots of explanation. Apart from being great, great movies, Christmas is without doubt a big part of the movie's setting and plot. You know the drift.
3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
An example of how many Christmas vacations go down - the intention is lovely, the start is promising, and then it all turns into a big disaster. It seems that already in the 80s they knew how it goes. And, it has Eileen from Seinfeld in it.
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Yes, it's a full-on Christmas movie. But there's death, skeletons, kidnapping of Santa, and scary-cute stuff. Whimsical and perfect. Good job, Tim Burton. As always.
5. Batman Returns
It's always the right time for Batman. And, as “The Nightmare Before Christmas” has proven, Burton, darkness and Christmas is the perfect trio. Plus, Max Shrek's Christmas speech.
6. Ralphie's Bunny Suit
Okay, this is cute. And nostalgic. We all had to wear that bunny suit at least once. And there were times when everyone was in a good mood during Christmas.
7. Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens
Why has this made the cut? Because it's launched at Christmas time, of course! A must-see.
